iSEMcon Announces New Microphone Disinfector

by | Audio, Facilities, Gear, News, Operations, Production

iSEMcon has announced the new Li.LAC microphone disinfector that uses controlled exposure to ultraviolet light (UV-C) to kill more than a stated 99 percent of viruses and bacteria on microphone surfaces, metal grilles and windscreens.**

Designed by live event touring professionals for all audio applications utilizing microphones, Li.LAC is housed in a road-ready 19-inch, 3U rack-mount enclosure that can be positioned anywhere staff and/or volunteers want to disinfect microphones while performing other duties. It can be packed in a road case to travel with other equipment.

Li.LAC can handle up to three handheld mics and/or several lavalier/headset models and beltpacks at one time. Once the microphones are in place, users simply close the door and press the “start” button. The disinfection process is complete within a stated 12 minutes.

Li.LAC has been designed to work much like a microwave oven. It will not operate unless the drawer is fully closed, and it will switch off as soon as the drawer gets opened, helping to maintain operator safety while assuring users of a complete disinfection process.

Lewe Redlin, the monitor engineer for Sarah Brightman and a Li.LAC early adopter, states, “Even before the pandemic, I’ve always tried to keep our microphones as clean as possible because the artist puts that microphone right to their mouth. So even before Covid I would have used Li.LAC immediately. But now it’s more important than ever.”

The new Li.LAC microphone disinfector is available now from iSEMcon in the USA and/or can be purchased online here. For more specifics, go here or contact Win Otto at win.otto@isemcon.com.

**The departments of Biomedical Engineering and Medical Microbiology & Infection Prevention of the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) have conducted comprehensive scientific studies to evaluate the effectiveness of Li.LAC. A disinfection level of 99.99 percent for surface disinfection inside Li.LAC has been approved by the independent accredited laboratory Opsytec Dr. Gröbel GmbH.
