RF Venue Announces Release Of Diversity Omni Antenna

by | Audio, Gear, News

RF Venue has announced the release of the Diversity Omni Antenna offering a new, patent-pending design for omnidirectional coverage of any manufacturer’s wireless microphone systems operating across 470 to 616 MHz. It’s well suited for indoor multi-zone projects or outdoors where large areas of coverage are needed, such as sports venues, theme parks and amphitheaters.

“RF Venue has built a reputation for targeted solutions for a wide range of wireless applications,” says Chris Regan, president of RF Venue. “With the Diversity Omni Antenna, we’ve focused our expertise on the humble unidirectional antenna and developed a truly unique product that combines separate horizontal and vertical elements in a single structure that provides uniquely effective reception regardless of how a wireless mic transmitter is held and oriented relative to the antenna.”

The unique design of the antenna, deployed on a single stand, helps to eliminate the most common signal dropouts. It offers flexible placement because only one unit is needed in place of two separate omni antennas, and its compact size (length: 105 mm/4.1 in; height: 204 mm/8 in; weight: 187 g/6.6 oz) is intended to allow easier positioning anywhere coverage is needed. The antenna comes with a urethane-coated polyester cover for weatherization and can also be weatherized for permanent outdoor installations.

The Diversity Omni Antenna is available individually or in bundle packs with RF Venue DISTRO4 or DISTRO9 HDR antenna distribution systems and all necessary cabling; it’s currently available for preorder and will begin shipping in November, 2021 at a MAP price of $569. Antenna and distribution system upgrade packs begin at $1,239.

My Love-Hate Relationship with the De-esser

I don’t remember ever using a de-esser in the early days of my recording career. Sure, there were a few clever engineers who would side-chain a compressor to tame certain frequency ranges, but that was rare and not always used on vocals. If a vocal was harsh or overly...
