Pliant Technologies Releases 4-Wire Adapter For MicroCom XR

Pliant Technologies announces the new 4-Wire I/O Interface and Two-Way Radio Headset Adapter (PAC-MC4W-IO) that’s designed to enhance the flexibility of its MicroCom XR wireless intercom system.

Specifically, it accommodates additional users by connecting MicroCom XR systems to a variety of wired and wireless intercom systems that use an industry-standard 4-wire connection. In addition, it also offers a direct intercom interface from the MicroCom XR to many two-way radio devices.

“We’ve been receiving very positive feedback from our MicroCom XR wireless intercom customers since its launch last year,” says Gary Rosen, Vice President of global sales for Pliant Technologies. “An outstanding feature for MicroCom XR users has been the system’s ease-of-use and flexibility. With the new 4-wire I/O and two-way radio interface capability, we have enhanced the system’s flexibility with a user-friendly solution that allows anyone to interface to a 4-wire intercom system, or to simply interface with a line-level analog audio connection with MicroCom XR.”

Combining MicroCom XR and the new 4-wire adapter, users can now be added to existing intercom systems using 4-wire connections. Additionally, by using one of the optional radio adapter cables, users now have the ability to connect MicroCom XR to a two-way radio system, allowing them to talk and listen through many popular two-way radio models.

With the new interfacing capability, the MicroCom XR is also able to key the connected two-way radio directly from any belt pack on the system or via the adapter’s push-to-talk button all while using any standard MicroCom-compatible headset for integrated audio communication.

The interface device has a rechargeable battery with a stated 35-hour life. For stationary applications or for easier recharge, it can plug into any USB-C power source. An LED indicator light on the device will light red while charging and turns off when the battery is fully charged. Additionally, the LED indicator is blue when the system is powered on and ready for use. It also includes a built–in belt clip for flexible attachment options, so users can easily secure the adapter to clothing.

My Love-Hate Relationship with the De-esser

I don’t remember ever using a de-esser in the early days of my recording career. Sure, there were a few clever engineers who would side-chain a compressor to tame certain frequency ranges, but that was rare and not always used on vocals. If a vocal was harsh or overly...
